Connect Magpie to ChatGPT
Eight steps, about five minutes. After this, ChatGPT can save to your notebook and read from it. So can Claude. Same notes.
- 1
Sign in at mcp.mymagpie.app/account and finish setup, if you have not already.
This creates your notebook. Takes about two minutes.
- 2
On chatgpt.com, open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.
Use the website for this part, not the phone app.
- 3
Open Plugins in the sidebar, then New Plugin (the + button).
- 4
Name it Magpie and paste this as the Server URL.
https://mcp.mymagpie.app/api/mcp - 5
Set authentication to OAuth.
- 6
Accept the custom-server warning, choose Create, then sign in to Magpie and approve.
- 7
Start a new chat. A conversation opened before connecting can see Magpie but cannot use it.
- 8
Switch Magpie on from the + menu in the chat.
ChatGPT asks per conversation, not once.
Try it
With Magpie switched on in a new chat, say any of these.
- “Save this to Magpie: [your idea]”
- “What have I saved about [topic]?”
- “Pull up my recent Magpie notes and show me the themes.”
Anything you save here shows up in Claude too. Setting up Claude? Those steps are here.
You aren’t the problem.
Your tools are.
Magpie gives your ideas a place to land, so you can keep moving.
